Becoming a Valor Nonprofit Partner

Raymond James Valor follows a structured review and due diligence process to ensure prospective nonprofit partners align with Valor’s mission and meet established partnership requirements.

1. Nonprofit Referral

The process begins when Valor receives a referral or recommendation for a prospective nonprofit partner.

2. AWP Network Verification

Valor conducts an initial review in coordination with America’s Warrior Partnership (AWP) to determine whether the prospective nonprofit is an existing member of the AWP Network.

Note: Organizations that are current AWP Network members may qualify for an expedited due diligence process based on vetting previously completed by AWP.

3. Valor Due Diligence Review

The Valor Community Outreach Team initiates a formal due diligence review of the prospective nonprofit. The review is intended to validate the organization’s nonprofit status, governance, financial standing, reputation, and alignment with Valor’s mission and partnership standards.

4. Introductory Meeting

If the initial review identifies no material concerns or negative findings, Valor contacts the nonprofit to schedule an introductory meeting. The meeting provides an opportunity to learn more about the organization, its mission, programs, leadership, impact, and opportunities for partnership with Valor.

5. Documentation & Verification

Following the introductory meeting, the nonprofit will be asked to provide applicable documentation to support completion of the due diligence review, including:

  • Completed W-9 (2014 version, if specifically required)
  • Most recent IRS Form 990
  • IRS 501(c)(3) determination/verification letter
  • Articles of Incorporation
  • GuideStar/Candid profile and rating, if available
  • Additional IRS or nonprofit-status verification, as applicable
  • Additional documentation or information may be requested based on the results of the review.

6. Leadership Review & Decision

Upon completion of due diligence, the findings and partnership recommendation are presented to Valor and AWP leadership for review and final decision.

Leadership may:

  • Approve the organization for partnership;
  • Request additional information or follow-up; or
  • Decline the proposed partnership.

7. Partnership Agreement

Upon approval, Valor provides the nonprofit with a Valor Partnership Agreement for review and execution. The partnership becomes official once all required approvals and documentation are complete and the Partnership Agreement has been executed.

8. Partner Onboarding & Recognition

Once the partnership is finalized, the new nonprofit partner is formally onboarded into the Valor partner network. The organization will also be added to the Valor Partner Page at www.RJValor.org/Partners.
